Information for GPs and Referrers

Elizabeth Maier is an AHPRA registered psychologist providing evidence-based psychological assessment and therapy for adults, adolescents and young people. She works primarily from an Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) framework (a third-wave cognitive behaviour therapy approach) that is blended with Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT) and a Humanistic approach.

Elizabeth accepts referrals for a range of mental health presentations for both adults and children (8 years and up). As Elizabeth is a former classroom teacher, she is a good fit for children, teens and educational staff that could benefit from psychological support for a variety of reasons. Clients are seen at a self-contained home-based clinic in Yaroomba.

Referral pathways

Clients can be referred via:

• Mental Health Treatment Plan (MHTP)

• Private Health Insurance (depending on policy)

• DVA

• WorkCover

• NDIS

• Self-referral

Fees and rebates

The initial consultation fee is $220, and subsequent sessions are $180.
Clients referred under a Mental Health Treatment Plan are eligible for a Medicare rebate of $98.15 for a standard 50-minute psychology consultation.

Medicare Safety Net thresholds may reduce out-of-pocket costs once reached.

Rebates through Cliniko and TYRO Health are available for Medicare and certain private health claims at the time of appointment.

Reports and Communication

Elizabeth provides written updates to referrers when appropriate and with client consent, including:

• Initial impressions

• Relevant assessment results

• Treatment progress

• Risk information (as clinically indicated)

• Recommendations and ongoing needs

Communication is guided by privacy, consent and clinical necessity.
If urgent concerns arise regarding risk, Elizabeth will contact the referring GP or relevant supports as appropriate.
